If you’re not listening to music during a CARTA sesh, is the CARTA sesh even a vibe? In our opinion, music always compliments a couple hits out of your e-rig, especially when the homies are in the sesh-circle. If you don’t already have a 420 playlist going, don’t worry we got you. We’re here to give you the top 10 songs inspired by the lovely Miss Mary Jane.
- Afroman - “Because I Got High”
Memorable Lyrics: “I was gonna clean my room until I got high/ I was gonna get up and find the broom, but then I got high/ My room is still messed up and I know why (Why man?)/Because I got high, because I got high, because I got high.”
Afroman really speaks the truth throughout this whole song. “Because I Got High” is easily considered a top tier stoner anthem that deserves to be played during every sesh. The lyrics are funny, catchy, and easy to sing along to, while other verses may be relatable to some CARTA users. Although Afroman may be considered a “one-hit” wonder to most, this song alone became one of the most requested songs on US radio, including rock stations despite it not being considered a rock song.
- Snoop Dogg ft. Pharrell Williams - “Let’s Get Blown”
Memorable Lyrics: “So won’t you make it easy on me?/ And take this drink, then hit this weed/ Two step wit me, let’s slip to the dance floor/ On and on and on and on we go”
When Snoop D-O-double-G and Pharrell hop on a track together, it’s always a vibe. Uncle Snoop always delivers eccentric flows that tie pimpin’ and kush together. Rapping his verses while getting lifted will have you feeling like a true gangster, just be careful when trying to use your CARTA as a mic.
- Azizi Gibson - “Smoking with the Gods”
Memorable Lyrics: “Let’s get lit, hop up in a ship/ Fly to space and go/ Rollin’ raws on our way to Mars, my house in the stars”
The beat to this song alone will have you feeling like you're on your way to Mars, and Azizi Gibson matches it perfectly while he raps about getting faded with higher beings. His cadence and wordplay on this track make it a fun listen to throw on during a CARTA sesh. If you ever wondered what it would feel like to toke with the gods, give this a listen.
- The Pharcyde - “Pack the Pipe”
Memorable Lyrics: “I got a big ol’ blunt, I’m lampin’ on my front porch/ About to put a torch to it, then Coco said don’t do it”

The wordplay from each member’s rhymes makes this song fun to listen to when feeling like you’re on cloud 9. Money is not the only green thing Thugger has grown to love. His song Stoner put him on the map, becoming his first major hit that brought attention to the young Atlanta native. Young Thug boasts his love for bud, while laying down a catchy chorus over a hypnotizing beat. Singing this song while loading up your CARTA will always start the sesh off right.
- Flatbush Zombies - “Smoke Break” (Interlude)
Memorable Lyrics: “I just wanna roll my joint, really can’t take much more/ I brought this whole sack with me, dog/ So please don’t blow my high”
Flatbush Zombies represent the new age of stoner groups. Their eclectic style and captivating sound are what separate them from modern music. Most of their songs are an ode to herb and psychedelics, making it another reason why you should include their music into your 420 playlist. Listening to “Smoke Break” (Interlude) while puffing your rig will have you feeling out of this world.
- Kid Cudi - “Marijuana”
Memorable Lyrics: “Stoned on the run-run, no fun if not/ It’s Scotty from the email thread/ Man, I swear to keep it one hundred. And if I ain’t have it, then I’ll be dead”
When you think of Kid Cudi, you think of soothing music, beautiful hums, and of course, freeing your mind at night. Cudi’s “Marijuana“ was inspired by the flower we’ve all grown to love. Fun fact, Kid Cudi actually quit smoking after the song was released. But don’t worry, it didn’t take long for him to finally reunite with Mary Jane.
- Bone Thugs-n-Harmony - “Weed Song”
Memorable Lyrics: “If everybody took a break and we all just got wasted/ Toked out (out, out, out), smoked out (out, out, out)/ Choked out (out, out, out), pull another O (out, out, out)/ Let’s get P-O-D-ded (P-O-D-ded, P-O-D-ded)”
The “Weed Song“ by Bone Thugs-n-Harmony is a classic joint to have on your 420 playlist. The entire song is dedicated to blowing trees (hence the song title) and feeling like you’re never coming down. This isn’t the only song Bone Thugs wrote that showed their love for ganja, other songs like “Blaze It“, “Buddha Lovaz“, and “Bad Weed Blues“ are also worth listening to during your rounds of CARTA puffs.
- Cypress Hill - “Dr. Greenthumb”
Memorable Lyrics: “Hello, my name is Dr. Greenthumb/ Hello, my name is Dr. Greenthumb/ I’d like to tell you just where I’m from/ Hello, my name is Dr. Greenthumb/ Hello, my name is Dr. Greenthumb”
Like Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Cypress Hill is another classic group that is notorious for making music dedicated to their love for the buddha. “Dr. Greenthumb“ is another stoner anthem that describes a dealer's perspective as he serves some of the best chronic in the game. You might even learn a thing or two about growing some bud yourself.
- Dr. Dre (ft. Hittman, Six-Two, Nate Dogg & Kurupt) - “Xxplosive”
Memorable Lyrics: “All the real smokers know/ Nate ain’t passing nothing’ but dro, indeed/ Real trees/ Chronic leaves/ No seeds”
Nate Dogg’s verse is not the only memorable lyric worth mentioning, this whole song is quotable and it bumps! Dr. Dre provided all the West Coast anthems and featured legendary rappers who blazed heavy such as Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Kurupt, Xzibit, and many other West Coast natives. “Xxplosive“ will immediately have you head bobbing once the beat kicks in. If you and your homies are trying to go verse for verse during the sesh, be sure to throw on this joint.
It was not easy making this list, but these are some of our favorites. There are many honorable mentions worth throwing in your 420 playlist such as Wiz Khalifa’s “Still Blazin“, Luniz’s “I Got 5 On It“, Sublime’s “Smoking Two Joints“, A$AP Rocky’s “Purple Swag“, Rick James’ “Mary Jane“, or the entire Doggystyle album by Snoop Dogg. We hope you enjoy some of these chronic hits and be sure to let us know what songs you have bumpin’ during your CARTA sesh.
